Entirely handmade, this Zanafi rug is made from 100% natural wool. They are made by the Zanafi tribes, living in the heart of Atlas mountains in Morocco. Their making is the fruit of a long tradition, transmitted only by women in each family. Berber women manufacture the rugs by hand on wooden looms.
The design of Zanafi stands out by its technicality in terms of fine black and white designs. The diamond-shape is the most common but some rugs have more minimalist designs. These are hard pieces to make, only a few Berber women know this weaving technique! The Zanafis take the graphics of the famous Beni Ouarain rugs, but with a “flat-woven” technique similar to Kilim rugs.
These rugs connect the long history of nomad Berber tribes with the interiors of the modern world.
Care Tips : regular maintenance with a soft dry brush to remove dust. Don’t hesitate to turn it over and flipping it regularly! In case of stains, immediately wash it off with soap and water.
